So What is a GOMP then?
Good question. Let me give you a little bit of background. About a year ago I thought that office life was awfully boring and could use a little injection of harmless humour. So, I decided to send my colleagues at work a little bit of fun every Friday and call it Friday Fun (original title or what!). Anyway, a few weeks on and a lot of people liked it. I guess that this is not dissimilar to a lot of e-mails that are sent round, but this is about my little distribution list, so there. Some of my colleagues did not appreciate the e-mails that I sent round, which again is fair enough. They were taken off the list and some more people added. This has happened a few times and I now have quite a few people on my Friday Fun list (also known as the GOMP).
So its just another Joke distribution list? Well, yes, I suppose so.
So how does it work? Well, every Friday, I send out an e-mail with something that I think is funny on it.
What about Quality assurance? My first GOMP CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) questionnaire was sent out during March 98 and the replies were collated and reviewed. A lot of constructive feedback was taken on board and overall, Friday Funs recipients were fairly content that what they got was what they wanted.
Have you ever got into trouble over it? Yes. I am not making that mistake again. I sent out a Friday fun with a joke article about Microsoft God (some of you may have seen it). This provoked a few people in a negative way. Obviously, this is not my intention and I now steer well clear of issues that are commonly considered to be sensitive.
How can I get onto the GOMP? Gis a mail with something funny on it.
